Community Relations
After more than 150 years, our corporation continues
to raise the standards and expectations of community relations throughout
the markets we serve. By enhancing the quality of the social, environmental
and economic activities in our communities, National City will attract
a motivated workforce and remain an industry leader throughout the millennium.
Through various community projects, philanthropic
efforts and sponsorships, we strive to make a difference. We support
initiatives that focus on critical community needs and provide direct
and measurable benefit to residents. For example, we were one of the
nation's first banks to form a corporation to revitalize low- and moderate-income
neighborhoods through equity investments - National City Community Development
Corporation (NCCDC). Over the last decade, NCCDC
has invested more than $178 million in development projects in both
inner-city and rural communities.
National City's allegiance
to the development of our communities extends beyond financial support
- we also provide leadership. We serve as a good corporate citizen,
a fair employer, stable financial resource and supporter of the arts,
education and civic affairs. Our involvement runs deep within our corporate
culture and throughout our six-state footprint.
National City
Supports the University of Louisville
Since 1984, National City has supported many University
of Louisville initiatives through our charitable contributions. National
City Fellow is a recent University of Louisville program developed to
support the fellowship for one of its economics professors. Through
this program, research findings on Louisville’s economic development
issues are made available and these insights are shared with the community.
